The stage is all set for the Mega edition of Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp (GEB) from 2nd- 5th July. After the huge success of the first two editions of the Bootcamp in Kakani, Nepal and Bangkok, Thailand respectively, the organizers, Oya Inc., are taking it to the capital city of Indonesia- Jakarta this summer. A famous tourist destination thanks to its natural beauty, Indonesia is also the sixteenth largest economy of the world and one of the best countries for launching startups.
Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp competition cum learning opportunity for young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs around the globe. With the belief that healthy competition is essential for learning, GEB employs innovative learning, interaction, and competition for improvement at the core. GEB brings together young minds from around the globe to give a boost to their entrepreneurial ideas into startups through mentorship and teamwork. “GEB was a life-changing experience, and I would recommend it to any entrepreneur looking to challenge their status quo, collaborate with and learn from like-minded delegates and mentors across the world,” Dexter Neal Jr Joshua Wilson of Trinidad and Tobago after his experience in GEB 2018 in Bangkok. The participants can learn from the success as well as the failure stories of the veteran entrepreneurs who will also be mentoring them throughout the competition. Besides, it is an incredible opportunity to be exposed to new cultures and perspectives, both entrepreneurial and otherwise. “I had entered GEB with a belief to survive the forthcoming amazing days of Learning, Unlearning and Relearning and in the end with a bright smile conquered the camp and won some amazing memories and a network for life,” comments Siddharth Jain, a participant of GEB 2017 in Kakani.
The four-day Mega Edition of GEB from July 2 this summer will welcome more than 20 world-class speakers and more than 250 young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs from around the world in Jakarta. The participants will form a team and share their ideas on the first day. Then the mentors and speakers will share their experience and words of wisdom to the participants who will then collaborate within the team to refine their ideas to a viable business model and pitch the final business model on the last day, competing with other teams.
Besides the competition, the main attraction of the program will be the GEB advisory board, comprising of national figures to international mentors and entrepreneurs, who will be inspiring the participants. Mr. Nabindra Raj Joshi, former Minister of Industry of Nepal and also a member of GEB advisory board, will also be a part of the Bootcamp in Indonesia. The board consists of highly experienced entrepreneurs and mentors: Prof. Dr. Curtis L. Deberg- Founder of Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE), Tal Catran- an Accelerators Guru & International Keynote Speaker, Prof. Rajesh Nair- Director of ASB Innovation Entrepreneurship Center at the Asia School of Business, Troyevan Saragih, founder of UTINDO CreativeWorks and motivational personal power coach, Richard Myhill- the Director of the London International Youth Science Forum(LIYSF), Roopam Sharma- recipient the Gifted Citizen Prize – the Nobel Prize of Social Innovation in 2016, Karolina Mazetyte- Co-founder and Managing Director of International Youth to Youth Initiative. The participants are sure to be enriched and motivated by their experience.
The previous two editions of GEB were a huge success too. The first edition- held in Kakani, Nepal in September 2017 saw ideas ranging from remaking traditionally made alcohol commercially to social media to connect people with similar taste in the professional level. Similarly, in the second edition of GEB in Bangkok, Thailand in January 2018, a total of 12 business models were pitched- from devices to interpret sign languages to check soil quality for farmers- all of which could be developed into successful startups. Chyine, a traditionally made alcohol is remade and sold commercially with much better quality, was the winning model of the first edition whereas Guliyo, a business which will produce and brand locally made sugar free Nepalese chocolates, won the title in Bangkok.
